Molly McDonough
Engineer, Fiction Writer, and Poet

Molly McDonough is a software engineer, fiction writer, and poet with a uniquely multidisciplinary background spanning aerospace, agriculture, finance, and healthcare. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from Cornell University and has honed her creative and technical skills through the University of British Columbia's writing program and Flatiron School's full stack engineering bootcamp.
Her work lives at the intersection of expansive exploration and grounded execution. Molly builds elegant software systems and writes immersive, emotionally resonant fiction—both driven by curiosity, empathy, and a hope for meaningful connection.
She works as a freelance software engineer and is open to full-time opportunities, particularly roles that value thoughtful design, mentorship, and mission-driven work. She also is selectively available for literary publications and speaking engagements.
When not working, Molly can be found volunteering abroad, swapping stories with her family across the eastern U.S., or telling her cat, Pickle, that she's the most perfect being in the universe.
